Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project : ウィキペディア英語版 | Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project is one of four Ultra Mega Power Projects planned by Government of India. It is located in Sasan village in Singrauli district in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The power plant is operated by ''Sasan Power Limited'' a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Power. In the initial round of bidding Singapore based ''Lanco-Globeleq consortium'' was awarded the letter of intent to develop this project, whereas Reliance Power was second lowest competitive bidder. Later on the project was passed on to Reliance Power since doubts were raised over the technical eligibility of the consortium for executing the project. Sasan UMPP along with the coal mine is the largest integrated coal-cum-power plant in the World. It is India's first domestic coal-based UMPP. This is a pit-head power project and has been allocated three captive coal mine blocks having a production of 25 million tonnes of coal per annum making these mines among India's largest. With an estimated cost of around Rs 25,000 Crores (US$ 4 billion), this is the single largest investment happened in Power Industry in India till date. Power generated from the project would be sold to 14 procurers in seven states of India at a levelized tariff. This UMPP will use super critical technology which results in higher operating efficiency and also reduces the carbon emissions compared to older plants. ==Sasan Coal Mines== Sasan UMPP is a pit-head power project and has been allocated three captive coal mine blocks – Moher, Moher Amlori extension and Chhatrasal – which have reserves in excess 700 million tones. Plans for development of these mines were prepared and approval for the same was got in a record period of seven months. The approved mine plan of all three mines put together envisages production of 25 million tonnes of coal per annum making these mines among India's largest. Sasan UMPP along with the coal mine would on completion become the largest integrated coal-cum-power plant in the country. The scale of the project can be better appreciated from the fact the project and coal mine together involve almost 10,000 acres of land of which almost 7,000 acres would be coal mines.
